Ed Young
When we started Fellowship Church 19 years ago, we had no idea what would come our way. We have been blessed beyond our dreams, and the only explanation is that it's been a "God Thing." But along this journey, I have also faced some tough challenges and struggles.
I would have given anything to have resources like these when I faced the incredible challenges that can come when we pour our hearts into the local church. Which is not to brag about our stuff, but just to let you know that we're going to tell it to you straight—what really worked for us and what didn't.
These resources are here to support you, encourage you and give you freedom. Make them your own. I love to hear when you start with one of our ideas and take it to the next level. And let's make this a two-way street. Tell us the exciting new things you're trying and the creative ideas you're putting into place.
It's thrilling to see the incredible things happening in your communities as you creatively and confidently stretch people's expectations about church and reach the lost for Christ. Church models from generations ago aren't going to cut it for our culture today. We need to innovate and create, with an intensity and focus that remembers what's at stake here—lives are on the line each and every time we open the doors to our churches.
God wants leaders to lead. He wants leaders with a vision. Let's take that vision and make an eternal difference!

Dr. Ed Young
Dr. H. Edwin Young was born on August 11 in Laurel, Mississippi. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 12 through the leading of his pastor’s wife, Mrs. Gates.
Following graduation from high school in Laurel, Dr. Young entered the University of Alabama as an engineering major. Mid-way through his freshman year, challenged by an atheist in his dorm who questioned his belief in God, he began to seek God’s purpose for his life. Six months later, he surrendered to the call to preach the Gospel, and enrolled at Mississippi College to continue his education.
On June 28, 1959, he married Jo Beth Landrum. Dr. Young’s preparation for the ministry continued at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. His first pastorate was in North Carolina, and he pastored in North and South Carolina until 1978 when he moved to Houston, Texas. He became the pastor at Second Baptist Church where he continues to pastor today. The congregation has grown from 2,000 members in 1978 to over 51,000 members at five church locations presently.
Dr. Young was elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention in June of 1992 and again in June, 1993. He is the author of many books including, Total Heart Health, The 10 Commandments of Parenting, and The 10 Commandments of Marriage. Dr. Young’s broadcast ministry, The Winning Walk, can be seen and heard across North America and throughout the world.
Bil Cornelius
Bay Area Fellowship is led by Pastor Bil Cornelius. Bil’s life calling has been to create a movement that is reaching into the lives of the lost and unchurched of Corpus Christi and beyond. Bil does this through creative and relevant life changing messages and coaching the next generation of exponential church planters. Bil is the husband to Jessica and father to Mason, Cole and Sophie, a role second only to his love and faith in God.
In September of 1997, Bil came to Corpus Christi, Texas with a great vision to start a church that would use modern methodology to reach people with God’s timeless message of salvation through Jesus Christ. Armed with very little in the way of resources, Bil and his wife Jessica diligently worked to form a core group that initially met in their one bedroom apartment. Although these early meetings consisted of less than 10 people, Bil was undeterred in his belief that God would some day turn them into a church of thousands.
Committed to reaching more people for Christ, Pastor Bil and the church committed the majority of their resources to sending out a direct mail piece to over 70,000 homes in the Corpus area which invited them to Bay Area’s first community service on January 18th, 1998. The service was held at a local elementary school and over 200 people attended! Over the past decade, Bay Area Fellowship has grown to over 6,000 people in weekend attendance between their four campuses.
With the launch of his television show, Bil is looking to reach beyond the local reach and spread the Christ message around the country.

Brad White, Senior Pastor of Lifepoint Church in Tampa, Florida, is one of the most dynamic preachers in the country. Brad, his wife, Stephanie, and their three children have made their home in the Tampa Bay area.
